GUMBULLY Heath Henderson's work on the Khabele Elementary School expansion with Austin's Derrington Building Studio was featured this week in ArchDaily Magazine. The 3400 sf addition opened in the Fall of 2015 uses an indoor-outdoor floorplan, natural materials and daylighting to promote a healthy learning environment for students and to strengthen their daily connection with nature.
The article writes:
In the school’s initial meeting with Derrington Building Studio principal, Tim Derrington, their directive was simple—design the campus as “a village in the forest.” The school’s limited budget and tight schedule, along with the site’s sensitive environmental restrictions, posed unique challenges.
We're also delighted to recognize Heath's recent licensure by the State of Texas as a Registered Architect.
